Eamon Jones
Eamon is our Managing Partner. He joined Kilroys in 1982 becoming a partner in 1990. Eamon’s practice areas encompass corporate and commercial law, export credit insurance, commercial property, project finance, insolvency, commercial litigation and advising clients in the public and in the private sectors.
He has advised clients on transaction work, construction projects, complex commercial litigation, arbitration, statutory investigations and tribunals and has representing clients in actions by and against statutory regulators. His experience includes advising clients involved in commercial dispute resolution.
He has crisis managed multi disciplinary teams dealing with difficult and time critical matters to include regulatory investigations including the successful taking of judicial review proceedings.
Eamon was admitted as a solicitor in 1981 and holds a law degree from University College Dublin.

Kevin O’Brien
Kevin is our Senior Partner having retired as Managing Partner at the end of 2005.
Kevin has extensive experience in advising our clients in the areas of corporate and commercial law, in particular competition/anti-trust law, mergers and acquisitions law. Kevin has a large private client practice advising on the transfer of family businesses to the next generation, estate planning and private residential conveyancing.
He was admitted as a solicitor in 1979 and holds a law degree from Trinity College Dublin.

Thomas Simpson
Thomas leads our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department. He joined the firm as partner in 1992 and practices primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, arbitration, general and insurance litigation.
He has advised clients on all aspects of commercial litigation with a particular emphasis on product liability, judicial review, injunctive relief proceedings, insurance defence work, professional negligence and proceedings for breach of contract.
Tom is actively involved in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution, in particular commercial mediation.
Thomas was admitted as a solicitor in 1978 and holds a law degree from University College Dublin.

Patrick Ryan
Patrick leads our Commercial Property Department. He joined the firm in 1989 and became partner in 1993. Patrick practices in the areas commercial property, information technology law, telecommunications law, and public tendering law.
He has advised clients on all aspects of commercial property development. His work for clients in the IT sector includes advising on software licensing, data protection and the legal implications for eBusiness.
He has advised clients in the telecommunications sector on licensing, related regulatory issues, facilities sharing and terms and conditions of trading.
Patrick has also developed expertise in the area of public procurement advising both public and private sector clients.
Patrick was admitted as a solicitor in 1987 and holds a law degree from University College Cork. He is a member of the International Bar Association, the International Technology Law Association and the Institute of Taxation of Ireland.

Joanne Griffin
Joanne leads our Corporate & Commercial Department. Joanne was admitted as a solicitor in 1999 and became partner in 2003.
Joanne practices in all aspects of the areas of corporate and commercial law generally with a particular focus on corporate compliance, mergers and acquisitions, company takeovers, reconstructions and amalgamations, shareholder agreements, investment and subscription agreements and commercial dispute resolution.
Joanne advises a substantial number of international and Irish based corporate clients ranging from public companies to companies in the SME sector on corporate governance issues and in particular directors duties and obligations, convening of company meetings, shareholder and share issues and transactions and has acted for companies and company directors in matters involving and proceedings instituted by the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
Joanne has significant expertise in dealing with company reorganisations and the structures and taxation issues arising in connection with such transactions and in providing advice in connection with corporate recovery and winding up and insolvency issues.
Joanne holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Banking and Corporate Finance) degree from University College Dublin and a post-graduate Diploma in Legal Studies and has significant experience lecturing in company law and commercial law to post-graduate students pursuing professional examinations in banking and accountancy.

Anthony Layng
Anthony became a partner in the firm in 1998 and practices primarily in the areas of EU and competition law, non-life insurance law and regulation, employment law and intellectual property law.
He has extensive experience in advising clients on the application of EU and competition law to commercial agreements and advising clients in their dealings with the EU Commission and the Competition Authority.
Anthony has extensive experience in advising our non-life insurance clients on all aspects of policy drafting, interaction with the Regulator, establishment and insurance based litigation. He has advised extensively on “passporting” issues, both on a services and an establishment/branch basis.
Anthony has a particular expertise in advising clients on employment and labour law matters. He leads our employment and labour law team and has advised clients on complex employment law issues, both contentious and non-contentious representing both employers and employees before the Labour Relations Commission, the Labour Court, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the courts and the Equality Agencies.
Anthony was admitted as a solicitor in 1987 and holds a law degree from Trinity College Dublin. He is a member of the International Bar Association.
